2020 Update
Dear Library friends,

It is mid July and the Friends of the Rockport Public Library and army of volunteers are usually resting after the 4-day book sale extravaganza.

However, due to many circumstances, that type of annual book sale event is no longer practical.  We will miss the energy (and donations!) from the 30,000 plus items book sale.
But do not despair! As mentioned in our newsletter, the Friends Board has been working on plans to transform and update our annual book sale.  With the construction of the new library with better space and the proximity to the Opera House, it just makes sense to have smaller, more frequent events.

And while we would like to be able to begin taking in donations for upcoming book sales, we simply cannot accept donations at this time.  Safety and storage are two important factors in taking donations. Stay tuned and we will let you know when we can begin again.

Our first step in the planning process is moving over 700 boxes of books to the new library, which will probably take place sometime in September. Right now, we have a marvelous collection of books, puzzles, games, and we can’t wait to announce our first book sale in the new Rockport Public Library! We anticipate that our first book sale will take place in early 2021.

Secondly, we are also changing our membership to a calendar year, so that once we begin having book sales again, our members will have "first look" access to our sale. Which means that membership will run January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021.

The Friends will continue to need our wonderful volunteers for future book sales, new board members to guide our activities, and new ideas to continue the Friends’ legacy of supporting the Rockport Public Library. Please join us!
